The RT-PCR test is highly specific, which means false positives are unlikely. The Abbott ARCHITECT IgG immunoassay is reported to be 99.6% specific with a detection of 1 false positive in 1020 specimens in UW internal testing. A false positive serology in unlikely, but not impossible.

Yes, while our Test-to-Fly program geared toward individuals traveling through airports in the Seattle-Tacoma area we can accommodate testing for anyone at our dedicated sites. You do not need a transiting ticket to be tested.

We have a robust protocol and risk management program, designed specifically for your organization’s needs. Please follow this link to learn more: Test-to-Work

First you will need to visit our bookings page, which can be found here: Test-To-Fly Booking

Once the testing appointments are scheduled, you will receive an email with a link to fill out the online consent and questionnaire. You will be asked if you have any current symptoms or recent exposure to someone with possible COVID-19. If you have symptoms, you should not test and should seek medical care. You will be asked to provide demographic information and answer some questions including your travel history in the past 60 days. This information will help with contact tracing efforts  if you or your party have a positive result.

It is very important your name matches your identification exactly.

On the testing day, your ID will be verified and our medical staff will assist you with obtaining the nasal swab specimen. These will be sent to one of our partner laboratories for processing.

Our testing process is highly adaptable to the needs of our commercial and remote clients. Please visit our Test-to-work page to learn more about how we can best serve your organization.

A positive RT-PCR nasal swab means the virus was detected. It does not tell us if you are infectious or not. A negative test means the virus was not detected on the nasal sample. You could still be infectious with a negative result.

A positive IgG serology (antibody) test means an antibody was detected. Antibodies may appear days to weeks after an infection, but may not appear for 3 weeks or may never appear. A positive antibody test is difficult to interpret with our current understanding of the disease. It may represent recent infection, remote infection, or possibly a false positive. We cannot say anything about immunity at this time. A positive IgG does not mean you are immune. Antibody tests should not be used as the sole test to determine if someone has the disease.

We do not test symptomatic clients at risk of exposure to our staff and other clients.

Any client experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19 will fall into CDC guidelines for self-isolation and quarantine protocols. Please contact your doctor if you are experiencing symptoms.

If you currently have symptoms of COVID-19, you should not travel or test at risk of exposing others.

We are not accepting or billing insurance for payment of any kind.

The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner FAQ states that insurance will cover testing and treatment for medically-necessary services, while our testing is meant to serve people looking for asymptomatic and travel testing. Travelers may contact their insurance company to find out whether they can be reimbursed for travel testing. Proof of payment receipt can be requested at the time of check in OR contact us at [email protected]

Receipts are not provided automatically upon check-in.

An antigen test looks for proteins that are present on a virus. They are a marker of active infection. An antigen test is different from a PCR or molecular test. These look for viral genetic material. These are also different than antibody or serology tests. These look for the body’s response to an infection.

We are using qualitative antigen tests. Check your destination country’s requirements closely. If they ask for a quantitative antigen test or CLEIA antigen test, this is not the right test.

We are using the BD Veritor rapid antigen test. It is collected with a nasal swab. If your country requires a nasopharyngeal swab, this is not the correct test. Please check with your destination requirements to find out if the antigen is the right test for you.

Your Rapid Antigen test results will automatically upload to your Discovery Health portal account. Please note, you must select ‘View Determination Letter’ to view results. Check your account about 20 minutes after your test sample is collected. If you need a hard copy printout, ask the administration staff on site.

We provide a variety of testing options.

Please check your country’s travel requirements closely.

You may have to comply with country requirements even if you are only transferring through that country.

If you have questions about the appropriate test, contact your airline or country’s consulate, our staff will not be able to advise you on the appropriate test required.

If you have questions about special documentation or specifics for your travels, please inquire via [email protected] and check the official CDC page for your destination details.

If your test is positive, please contact your doctor. You will be advised to isolate for at least 10 days. This means you cannot fly. You will be contacted by a member of our staff. You will need to follow up with your local public health department to discuss the next steps. You will not be allowed to re-test, you must immediately isolate and avoid any contact with other people. For instructions on how to self-isolate, refer to the CDC guidance here.

Additionally, your information will be provided to the appropriate Public Health jurisdiction and the CDC. You will be asked to notify your close contacts for 48 hours prior to the positive test or development of symptoms and request that they self-quarantine for 14 days.

Please do not come in if you have tested positive for the risk of exposing other individuals.

We offer Same-Day testing at all of our locations. All Same Day tests must be booked before the cutoff time in order to receive results by or before midnight the same day. Book Same-Day HERE.

All vaccines have undergone safety trials and have been authorized for use in the United States. Millions of individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccinations and no long-term side effects have been detected. The CDC, FDA, and others continue to monitor the safety of all COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccines have been authorized for use in adults only (the Pfizer vaccine is authorized for 12 years old or older. Moderna and J&J are 18 years old.). The vaccines are currently being studied for use in children. More information: Safety of COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC

Many people experience mild side effects after receiving the COVID vaccine. This is common for all the vaccines that are currently available. Common side effects include sore arm, redness/tenderness at the injection area, headache, body aches, fatigue, fever, and chills. For two-dose series, side effects may be more severe after the second dose. This is a natural part of your body’s immune response. You must complete the 2-dose series in order to have full protection.

All current COVID-19 vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective in preventing serious disease. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and the Moderna vaccine have been shown to be 95% and 94% effective respectively in preventing symptomatic COVID. The Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine is 66% effective in protecting against symptomatic COVID and 85% effective in preventing serious disease.

If is not recommended to take over the counter pain relief before your vaccination appointment. Talk to your vaccine provider about options for pain relief after your vaccination.

The COVID-19 vaccines help your body build better immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19 without us becoming sick.

mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) use mRNA to provide instructions to your body about how to make a unique and harmless protein of the COVID virus, known as the spike protein. Our body recognizes that this protein does not belong in our body and then destroys this protein. By doing so our body is building immune cells that will remember to destroy this protein in the future. mRNA vaccines cannot give you COVID, they do not contain a live COVID virus. mRNA vaccines do not interact with your DNA or your genetic material.

More information: Understanding mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC

Viral vector vaccines (J&J) work by using a modified version of a different harmless virus which is known as the vector. This vector is sent into your body to deliver important messages to your body and tells the cell to produce a harmless part of the COVID virus (the spike protein). The body recognizes that this spike protein does not belong and triggers an immune response. This creates memory for our body for the next time we may encounter COVID.  Viral vector vaccines cannot give you COVID nor can they give you the modified vector virus.

More information: Understanding Viral Vector COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC

You are considered fully vaccinated 2-weeks after your second dose for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines and 2-weeks after your vaccination for J&J. Fully vaccinated individuals should still wear masks and social distance in public settings and refer to the CDC for guidelines for other activities.

More information: When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated | CDC

You will schedule any paperwork you need to be processed with the on-site testing administrators on the day you test. Please note that there is a $25 fee for the paperwork.

  1. We use several different labs, and exact test processing platform is determined by the lab at the time of processing. Regardless of platform and lab the processing methodology will be RT-PCR.
  2. Results timelines for rapid tests are based on a single run of a sample. If the result is inconclusive on the initial run then we will have to re-process the sample or collect a new sample, which will double the results time or more.

Yes. Bring your passport with you to your appointment. We can also add the passport number retroactively in person or through our Client Engagement team by emailing [email protected]
