Severe adverse reactions such as anaphylaxis are extremely rare. If you have a history of severe allergic reactions to medications or vaccinations, you can still receive the COVID vaccine. However, you should talk to your vaccine provider about your history prior to receiving the vaccine.
Many people experience mild side effects after receiving the COVID vaccine. This is common for all the vaccines that are currently available. Common side effects include sore arm, redness/tenderness at the injection area, headache, body aches, fatigue, fever, and chills. For two-dose series, side effects may be more severe after the second dose. This is a natural part of your body’s immune response. You must complete the 2-dose series in order to have full protection.
All vaccines have undergone safety trials and have been authorized for use in the United States. Millions of individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccinations and no long-term side effects have been detected. The CDC, FDA, and others continue to monitor the safety of all COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccines have been authorized for use in adults only (the Pfizer vaccine is authorized for 12 years old or older. Moderna and J&J are 18 years old.). The vaccines are currently being studied for use in children. More information: Safety of COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC

You will need to follow up with your local public health department to discuss the next steps. You will not be allowed to re-test, you must immediately isolate and avoid any contact with other people. For instructions on how to self-isolate, refer to the CDC guidance here.
Additionally, your information will be provided to the appropriate Public Health jurisdiction and the CDC. You will be asked to notify your close contacts for 48 hours prior to the positive test or development of symptoms and request that they self-quarantine for 14 days.
Please do not come in if you have tested positive for the risk of exposing other individuals.
We provide a variety of testing options.
Please check your country’s travel requirements closely.
You may have to comply with country requirements even if you are only transferring through that country.
If you have questions about the appropriate test, contact your airline or country’s consulate, our staff will not be able to advise you on the appropriate test required.
If you have questions about special documentation or specifics for your travels, please inquire via [email protected] and check the official CDC page for your destination details.
An antigen test looks for proteins that are present on a virus. They are a marker of active infection. An antigen test is different from a PCR or molecular test. These look for viral genetic material. These are also different than antibody or serology tests. These look for the body’s response to an infection.
We are using qualitative antigen tests. Check your destination country’s requirements closely. If they ask for a quantitative antigen test or CLEIA antigen test, this is not the right test.
We are using the BD Veritor rapid antigen test. It is collected with a nasal swab. If your country requires a nasopharyngeal swab, this is not the correct test. Please check with your destination requirements to find out if the antigen is the right test for you.
Your Rapid Antigen test results will automatically upload to your Discovery Health portal account. Please note, you must select ‘View Determination Letter’ to view results. Check your account about 20 minutes after your test sample is collected. If you need a hard copy printout, ask the administration staff on site.
