Discovery Health MD Supports Public Vaccination Efforts Through Community Partnerships

In partnership with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and the Washington State Department of Health, Discovery Health MD has opened a new COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Puyallup at South Hill Mall’s former Toys ‘R Us store. The clinic will operate four days per week and plans to administer 1,500 doses per day.

The team at Discovery Health MD is proud to step up as a provider of vaccinations for the public.

“We have been doing all we can to combat the pandemic from the beginning,” says Daniel Pulse, Discovery Health MD’s director of strategy and operations. They administered their first COVID-19 test in April 2020. Starting in the maritime community, testing services soon expanded to a variety of industrial sectors, including travelers through the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“Providing vaccinations is the next step in that evolution as we continue to do all we can to reduce risk for the communities we serve,” Daniel says. Discovery Health MD leveraged its unique position as a small, nimble group of doctors and professionals with close ties to both educational institutions and government entities at a critical time.

Discovery Health MD successfully lobbied at the state level in both Washington and Alaska to obtain batches of vaccines to be used at an immunization site operating out of the Port of Seattle, as well as doses allotted for the clinic they opened in the Port of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Without the efforts made and connections facilitated by Discovery Health MD, vaccination access at these vital locations would have been far more difficult.

“We fill this interesting niche within the COVID response in that we’re able to pivot to support the needs of different groups as they arise,” explains Andrew Eaton, Discovery Health MD’s director of clinical compliance and special projects. “Whether it’s testing or vaccinations, we’re working with local and state government agencies to provide services where they’re needed most.”

Discovery Health MD is a registered vaccine provider for the CDC.

They have administered over 11,000 vaccines since they began providing immunizations in December 2020. Since April 2020, they have conducted tens of thousands of tests for their commercial partners, public travelers, and members of the community. They operate three testing centers around the greater Seattle area with more on the way.
