“Alaska is being pretty hands off this year when it comes to COVID requirements,” Ann Jarris, CEO of Discovery Health MD, told IntraFish. She said Washington state, where crews leave for fishing from Seattle will be coming out with guidance soon. She added that should align with upcoming CDC guidance on the issue.
For the past two years, Discovery Health has provided varying levels of COVID services and support for pollock companies such as American Seafoods, Arctic Storm, Glacier Fish, Aleutian Spray Fisheries, and Trident Seafoods.
“We are working with Maritime Blue and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) to launch a website with resources for maritime employers to help with some of this confusion,” she said. That website should be available sometime in May. “Basically we’re recommending everyone be up to date with vaccinations, utilizing testing liberally, mask during high risk times, and use therapeutics when indicated,” she added.
