What this course is

A one-hour add-on that changes the first five minutes

What is Stop the Bleed training?

Stop the Bleed is hemorrhage-control training for people who are not medical professionals, teaching direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquet use. The national campaign was created by the American College of Surgeons and free community classes are widely available. This is the private, onsite version: one hour, your team, your site, added to the training they already do.

What your team practises

Four techniques, rehearsed until they are automatic

Direct pressure

Where to press, how hard, and how long. The technique that works before anything else is reached for.

Tourniquet application

Placement, tightening to arterial occlusion, and marking the time. Practised until it is muscle memory.

Wound packing

Packing a deep wound where a tourniquet cannot go, then holding pressure through to handover.

Chest seals

Recognising and sealing a penetrating chest injury, and what to do if breathing worsens after.

Onsite or open enrolment

When paying for this makes sense, and when it does not

The free community course is good and we will say so. Here is the honest difference, so you can decide.

The American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED course is offered free by many hospitals and community instructors, and it is worth taking. This is a different product: a private, onsite session for your whole team, scheduled around your operation, delivered as an add-on to your other training. You are paying for delivery to your site and your schedule, not for the curriculum.

One hour, for up to 10 to 25 people. Group size is chosen at checkout and sets the price, because the session is priced per session rather than per seat. See all training courses.

Direct pressure, tourniquet application, wound packing and chest seals, hands-on with real equipment. Practice is the point, because under stress people do what they have rehearsed, not what they have read.

No. It is designed as an add-on to CPR and AEDFirst Aid or fire safety training, not a substitute for them.

Because evacuation takes hours or days from open water. Severe bleeding does not wait, so the crew is the only responder. That is the same reason we run the medicine chest and the physician line for the same operators.

Yes. We schedule around crew rotations so no vessel is pulled off the water. Tell us your fleet and season and we build the calendar.
